“Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.”

Ibn Battuta, The Travels of Ibn Battutah

Rain rain go away!  Are you like me and wondering when is it ever going to stop?  Storm Doris has packed her bags and has giving way for the next instalment of our not so lovely British climate.  We at Just Journey think it is your turn to pack your bags and head off on an adventure of your own!

Planning a holiday is not always an easy task, once you’ve figured out where the wind is going to take you, you then have to decide when to go and what to do once you’re there. This is where we come in, to inspire and to lend you a helping hand.

At the moment South Africa is certainly featuring on our enquiry radar.  When you combine the weather, wildlife, wine, the good value for of our Pound and the flight prices from Birmingham airport it’s easy to see why it’s become so popular.

The classic first time journey is to start in Cape Town, drive along the famous Garden Route, and finish with an amazing safari in the Eastern Cape.  This involves a relaxing start in the beautiful city of Cape Town, with its pristine beaches, great value hotels and the majestic Table Mountain dominating the background, it’s no wonder it’s won the Telegraph Travel Awards’ best city in the world award so many times.  From here take a drive to the Wine Region for some excellent sampling and then onto the coastal road for Whale Watching (July to November), Ostrich Riding, walking with elephants, unwinding on the beaches and much much more!

If you are heading over in our summer time and you’re looking for warmer weather during their winter or if you’re ready for another visit to this incredible country, my suggestion is to journey to the Kwazulu Natal region further east.  Here the cold water of the South Atlantic Ocean warms considerably as it merges with the tropical Indian Ocean.  This area has a plethora of amazing opportunities from the colonial style city of Durban, the stories and re-enactments of the Boer War and the battle of Rorke’s Drift, lazing on the warm water beaches, and there’s expansive wildlife options too in the Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park where they are famed for saving the White Rhino from extinction.
